We Love Abbott

Earlier this summer we worked with Abbott Paint and Carpet to completely transform the exterior of our house with a fresh paint color. That experience led us back to Abbott for another home improvement: window treatments. Many people don’t realize that Abbott offers far more than paint and carpet—they carry a wide selection of window coverings and flooring solutions that make one-stop shopping easy.

Because we installed new windows late last year, it was time to invest in treatments that would offer privacy, light control, and a style that complements our mid-century farmhouse with Aztec accents. Our neighbors had been able to see into the house for months, and we were ready for privacy that still allows natural light.

Modern Window Treatments — What We Needed

Our home, built in 1939, has nonstandard window sizes, so custom solutions made the most sense. When we met with the design team, we explained the features we wanted:

  • Shades that harmonize with our mid-century farmhouse and Aztec-inspired decor
  • Top-down/bottom-up operation to maintain privacy while letting in light
  • Blackout options for bedrooms to improve sleep quality
  • Professional guidance to simplify decisions and remove guesswork
  • A seamless ordering and installation process through a single provider

What We Chose

Visiting the Abbott showroom in St. Paul helped us see fabric and color samples in person. After narrowing our options, an Abbott designer came to our house, took precise measurements for every unique window, and recommended specific treatments that would work best for each opening.

Abbott handled the ordering, scheduling, and installation. Not having to install the shades ourselves saved us time and stress—what could have been days of work was completed by professionals.

The entire process, from selecting the brand and styles to installation day, took about four weeks. The coordinated service and expertise made the turnaround both fast and reliable.

Hunter Douglas Duette Honeycomb Shades

We selected Duette honeycomb shades by Hunter Douglas in the Journal color with the Elan fabric. These shades offer the top-down/bottom-up function we wanted, a clean white tone that complements our walls, and blackout options for the bedrooms.

Choosing custom window treatments is an investment, but the benefits extend beyond aesthetics. We’re already noticing improved privacy, better light control in the living areas, and truly dark bedrooms for sleeping. Additional long-term advantages include enhanced energy efficiency, reduced noise transmission, and overall improved comfort and appearance throughout the home.

Abbott’s Biggest Sale of the Year

The timing of Abbott’s annual private sale is ideal if you’re considering paint, flooring, or window treatments. Abbott’s 9th Annual Private Sale offers their lowest prices of the year for registered attendees. The process is simple:

  • Attend one of the in-store private sale events to meet Abbott’s staff and designers and register for the discounted pricing. You’ll receive a packet explaining the sale and how to place your order.
  • You then have 30 days to place your order to secure the sale prices on paint, flooring, window treatments, and select services.

Registration requires no purchase, but once you’re registered you qualify for the private pricing. The events happen outside regular business hours so you can browse the showroom, speak with experts about your upcoming projects, and enjoy light refreshments.

Private Sale dates and locations:

  • St. Paul: Sunday, September 22 from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
  • Stillwater: Thursday, September 26 from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
