Stay Active This Summer with Lorissa’s Kitchen

Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to share a new partnership between Fit Foodie Finds and Lorissa’s Kitchen. If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram, you already know Lorissa’s Kitchen has been a constant snack in my bag for months. It’s one of my favorite savory, protein-packed options after a workout or while traveling.
Why I choose Lorissa’s Kitchen over other jerky and protein snacks
  • They use 100% grass-fed beef, antibiotic-free chicken, and responsibly raised pork.
  • No added growth hormones or artificial preservatives.
  • About 11 g of protein per serving, making it a great on-the-go source of protein.
  • Gluten-free options available.
  • Individually sealed for freshness so it’s convenient to carry anywhere.
  • Most importantly: it tastes amazing.
I have a sweet tooth, but I genuinely crave these savory snacks. The flavor lineup is outstanding: Korean BBQ, Ginger Teriyaki, Sweet Chili, and Szechuan Peppercorn. My top pick is Korean BBQ—it’s bold, satisfying, and perfect for curbing hunger between meals.

With summer in full swing, I wanted to share practical ways I stay active outside of formal workouts. When the days are longer and warmer, I naturally move more—and I notice the difference in my appetite. I need snacks that are portable, nutritious, and delicious. Lorissa’s Kitchen hits all those marks. Below are my favorite summer activity ideas that fit into a busy schedule and help keep me moving.

Walk the Lake

Walking around local lakes is my top pick for a low-stress, high-impact activity. Living near several lakes makes it easy to fit a three-mile loop into my day—an ideal 60-minute break to clear my head, get fresh air, and boost daily step counts. Whether you prefer a brisk walk or a relaxed stroll, lake paths are scenic, accessible, and great for both solo time and catching up with a friend.

Active Travel

We’re planning a 16-day trip to Scandinavia this August, visiting Norway, Copenhagen, and Iceland. Most of our travel plans center on exploring by foot and hiking—those are the best ways to take in landscapes and city sights. Active travel turns sightseeing into an opportunity for movement, and it’s the perfect excuse to pack portable protein snacks for long days of exploration.

Bike > Car

I finally embraced biking this year. Minneapolis was recognized for being very bike-friendly, and our network of bike paths makes riding a practical choice for short trips and errands. Swapping a car ride for a bike ride whenever possible is a simple way to add low-impact cardio into your routine and reduce time spent sitting.

Walk Everywhere

This is a bold claim I stand by: walk whenever you can. If stores, coffee shops, and other essentials are within a few blocks, choose to walk. Short trips add up and improve daily movement without needing a structured workout. Plus, getting outside regularly benefits mood and focus.

State Parks

My friend Lin and I bought state park passes last year and it was worth it. We realized we love trail running and hiking so much that a pass paid for itself quickly. We spend a lot of time near rivers and trails—sometimes crossing state lines for new scenery—so having access to parks encourages longer outings, more exercise, and little adventures that don’t require a full day away.
