Meanstagrams: You’ll Want to Watch This

The internet can be unpredictable and, at times, unkind. Over the years we’ve collected some of the most outrageous and blunt comments left on our Instagram posts, on the blog, and on Facebook. People often hide behind screens and say things they wouldn’t share in person. Instead of letting that negativity drag us down, we decided to do something different: we compiled our favorite “mean” comments and turned them into a playful, cathartic moment. Welcome to the first edition of MEANSTAGRAMS.

We love hearing from our readers. Thoughtful feedback, kind words, and constructive criticism help us grow and refine recipes, photos, and content. When someone takes time to praise a recipe or suggest an ingredient swap, we pay attention. Community engagement — whether compliments or helpful critique — is how this site improves and how we build connection with readers who share a passion for good food and wellness.

That said, not every comment is constructive. Some messages are blunt, cruel, or simply baffling. The first time you encounter a hurtful comment it can sting. Over time, we’ve learned to step back and view these moments differently. Instead of letting negativity dictate our mood, we choose to laugh, learn, and respond with kindness whenever appropriate. Sometimes the most memorable reaction is to highlight the absurdity with humor and perspective.

To reclaim the narrative, we created a short video where we read some of these comments aloud. The idea was simple: face the negativity, acknowledge that it exists, and transform it into something lighthearted and entertaining for our audience. We call it “Meanstagrams” — a tongue-in-cheek way to show that we are human, that we read what people write, and that we prefer to respond with grace rather than bitterness.

Turning painful words into a moment of connection also helps educate our community about how to engage respectfully online. Constructive feedback is always welcome: tell us what didn’t work in a recipe, suggest an alternative ingredient, or offer a clearer explanation of a technique. What we can’t accept or amplify is cruelty for its own sake. Healthy discussion and thoughtful disagreement improve the site; anonymous insults only harm the community spirit we’ve worked to cultivate.

When we read those mean comments together, we often end up laughing. Sometimes the messages are so over-the-top that they become comedic. Other times they prompt meaningful reflection about how to better communicate our intentions. In every case, the experience reminds us why we launched this site in the first place: to share recipes, wellness tips, and lifestyle ideas while fostering a warm, supportive community.

If you enjoy seeing how we handle online negativity with humor and kindness, check out our Meanstagrams video and explore other lifestyle videos we’ve produced. We encourage community members to continue leaving thoughtful comments, asking questions, and offering suggestions—just remember to be respectful. A positive comment or a helpful critique goes a long way toward making this space useful and welcoming for everyone.
