Mixed Berry Mojito
A bright, fruity take on the classic mojito. Fresh mixed berries—strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries—are gently muddled with simple syrup, then combined with mint, lime juice, and vodka, topped with soda water for a fizzy finish. This single-serve cocktail is quick to prepare and easy to scale, making it an ideal choice for warm afternoons, backyard gatherings, or a relaxing evening at home. The drink balances sweet berry notes, citrus from fresh lime, and the cooling aroma of mint. Use ripe berries and fresh lime juice for the best flavor. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the vodka with an equal amount of chilled herbal iced tea or sparkling water.

For garnish:
- Fresh mixed berries
- Fresh mint sprig
- Lime wheel
Instructions
-
Place the fresh mixed berries and the simple syrup into a tall glass. Use a muddler to press and crush the berries until they release their juices and are well broken down. Muddle firmly but avoid pulverizing the seeds to prevent bitterness.
-
Gently add the mint leaves to the glass. Before adding, lightly clap or “slap” the leaves between your hands to awaken the oils and aroma—this releases fragrance without bruising the mint too much. Add the vodka and fresh lime juice.
-
Fill the glass with ice, then top with soda water. Stir gently 2 to 3 times with a bar spoon to combine the ingredients without flattening the carbonation. Taste and add more simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter cocktail.
-
Garnish with a few whole mixed berries, a sprig of mint, and a lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately while the drink is cold and effervescent.
Notes
- Muddle the berries until they are juicy and mostly broken down. A few intact pieces add color and texture; avoid over-muddling to prevent releasing bitter seeds.
- Always use fresh lime juice for the best bright, clean flavor. Bottled lime juice will yield a flatter, less vibrant drink.
- When handling mint, gentle pressure and a light slap between your palms release aromatics without tearing the leaves. Over-crushing can make the mint taste grassy or bitter.
- Top with soda water last and stir very gently to preserve carbonation. If you prefer more fizz, add extra soda water and reduce the vodka slightly.
- To make a batch for a group, multiply the ingredients and muddle the berries and mint in a pitcher. Add vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup, then chill and top with soda water just before serving.
- Non-alcoholic variation: omit vodka and replace with chilled unsweetened iced tea, sparkling water, or a non-alcoholic spirit for a refreshing mocktail.
- Storage: This cocktail is best enjoyed immediately. If you need to prepare components ahead, muddle berries and mint and store covered in the fridge for a few hours, then assemble and add soda water just before serving.
