Cheesy Baked Turkey and Spinach Pinwheels Recipe

Looking for a fast, crowd-pleasing appetizer you can make in under 20 minutes? These Cheesy Baked Turkey and Spinach Pinwheels are simple, flavorful, and perfect for game day, casual gatherings, or a light lunch. With just a few everyday ingredients—flatbread, cheese, deli turkey, and fresh spinach—this recipe delivers melty, savory bites that are easy to customize and quick to prepare.

How to Make These Cheesy Baked Turkey and Spinach Pinwheels

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Warm the oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the spinach and sauté just until it wilts. Season lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper, then remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Lay a flatbread or lavash sheet on a clean, flat surface. Cover it evenly with slices of your chosen cheese so the entire surface is covered.
  4. Place turkey slices over the cheese in an even layer, ensuring the cheese is fully covered. Spread the sautéed spinach over the turkey in a thin, uniform layer.
  5. Roll the flatbread tightly lengthwise into a log. Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into 5–8 equal pinwheel slices, depending on the size of the flatbread and how large you want each bite to be.
  6. Arrange the pinwheels on a small baking sheet lined with parchment paper so each slice sits upright and you can see the swirl. Pack them close together but not touching so they hold their shape while baking.
  7. Bake for about 8 minutes, then switch the oven to broil and broil for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Watch closely while broiling to avoid burning.
  8. Remove from the oven, let cool for a minute, then transfer to a serving plate and enjoy warm.

Cheesy Baked Turkey and Spinach Pinwheels – Tips & Tricks

For best results, use thin flatbreads such as lavash or large pita sheets; they roll easily and crisp up nicely. A sharp knife chilled in the refrigerator for a few minutes helps make clean slices. If you prefer a crispier exterior, brush the outside of the roll lightly with oil or melted butter before baking. To keep the pinwheels moist, don’t overcook—bake until heated through and finish with a short broil for color.

Serving and Storage Suggestions

Serve these pinwheels warm on a platter with toothpicks for easy grabbing. They pair well with a light dipping sauce such as a creamy ranch, marinara, or a yogurt-based herb dip. To store, place cooled pinwheels in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2 days. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes or until warmed through. Avoid reheating in the microwave if you want to preserve a crisp outer edge.
