Recipe of the Month: Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
These peanut butter kiss cookies are a holiday favorite: tender and slightly chewy cookies with a crunchy sugar coating (optional) and a Hershey’s Kiss pressed on top while still warm so the chocolate melds with the cookie. They’re simple to make and easy to customize depending on what sort of chocolate you prefer.
Why you’ll love them
A timeless holiday cookie with broad appeal — kids and adults both enjoy them.
Dough can be made ahead and frozen for easy baking whenever you want fresh cookies.
Customize with different Hershey’s Kisses — peppermint, dark chocolate, or white chocolate all work well.

All About Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
Ingredients You’ll Need
Dry Ingredients
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Kosher salt
Wet Ingredients
- Unsalted butter, softened
- Light brown sugar
- Vanilla extract
- All-natural drippy peanut butter (or a firmer peanut butter if preferred)
- Egg
- Milk
Toppings
- Granulated sugar (for rolling, optional)
- Hershey’s Kisses
- White chocolate almond bark for drizzling (optional)

A few tips
Drippy peanut butter vs. firmer peanut butter: If you use a high-oil, drippy-style peanut butter, start with the lower amount called for and add more if needed. Firmer peanut butter like traditional Jif or Skippy may require slightly less.
Do not skip the milk: A small amount of milk hydrates the flour and helps cookies hold together after baking, keeping them tender rather than crumbly.
Choose your Kiss: Swap milk chocolate for dark, peppermint, or white chocolate kisses to vary the cookie’s flavor profile — all are delicious.
Sugar rolling is optional: Rolling cookie balls in granulated sugar before baking creates a pretty, slightly crunchy exterior, but you can skip this step if you prefer less surface sweetness.
