How to Take a Leap of Faith and Transform Your Life

Last night I came across a quote on Instagram that really resonated with me: if you can’t find your purpose, find your passion and your purpose will come. That simple idea has been unfolding in my life for years, and I want to share what I’ve learned about discovering purpose, following passion, and building a career that fits who you are.

if you can't find your purpose, find your passion and your purpose will come.

I’ve always been someone with wide-ranging interests. In high school I balanced varsity sports with AP Art, and in college I bounced between the Design School and more science-oriented programs like Nutrition or Exercise Science. For a long time I felt pressured to choose one clear path. I thought I needed to pick a single specialty in order to be taken seriously or to be successful.

That belief followed me into my early career choices. When I started my blog a few years ago, I convinced myself I had to go to culinary school to earn credibility in the food world. Over time, though, I learned that you can build respect and expertise without a formal credential—especially if you are passionate and committed. There are many self-taught creators in recipe development, food photography, and blogging who’ve built meaningful careers by doing excellent work and sharing it consistently.

Two years into running my blog, Fit Foodie Finds, something clicked: this wasn’t just a hobby. It could be my career. Once I allowed myself to think of the blog as a business, the possibilities opened up. Passion shows in your work, and people notice authenticity. My most effective content has been the kind that comes from genuine enthusiasm—whether that’s recipe creation, food styling, or writing about wellness and fitness.

Monetizing a creative project takes time and strategy. Over the past months I’ve built a steady income stream through ad revenue, sponsored posts, and freelance content creation. I did not expect that something I love—creating food content and sharing it—could become a full-time career, but that’s what happened. The transition felt risky, but it was rooted in consistent effort and learning how to run a blog like a small business.

Recently I made a big decision: I handed in my two weeks’ notice at Anytime Fitness headquarters so I can dedicate more time to building my business and teaching Group Fitness and Yoga Sculpt classes. I’m grateful Anytime Fitness has supported me by allowing a part-time schedule; their encouragement made this shift more manageable. Anytime’s focus on passion and purpose helped me explore different areas of the health and fitness industry and ultimately find what fits me best: recipe development and group fitness instruction.

This change doesn’t mean I forgot my past experience. Working at Anytime gave me structure, real-world skills, and a supportive community. It also confirmed that purpose often grows at the intersection of interests—fitness, food, and creative media in my case. If you’re juggling multiple interests, know that your path doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.

I’m still a bit surprised I took this leap at 23, but I’m excited and grateful. My family—especially Blake—has been incredibly supportive as I planned and followed through. Their belief in me made the risk feel worthwhile. To anyone trying to find their own direction: be patient, experiment, and let your passions guide you. Skill and opportunity tend to follow genuine interest and persistent practice.

Here are a few practical takeaways from my experience, for anyone looking to turn passion into purpose or a career:

  • Allow yourself to pursue multiple interests—skills from different fields can combine into something unique.
  • Start small and be consistent: share your work, build a portfolio, and learn the business side as you go.
  • Let passion inform your best work; authenticity resonates and builds an engaged audience.
  • Look for supportive employers or partners who value growth and allow flexibility during transitions.
  • Don’t underestimate self-taught skills—many creators succeed through dedication and strong execution.

That’s all for now. I’ll share more as things develop. For anyone reading this who’s wondering whether you can pursue a career that blends your interests: yes—you can. Follow what energizes you, be intentional about how you build your skills and business, and let your passion guide your purpose.

Do what you love and you'll love what you do.
