Banana Cream Iced Latte

This creamy, café-style Banana Cream Iced Latte combines ripe banana and vanilla creamer into a naturally sweet, velvety base that complements fresh espresso. Ready in about 10 minutes, the drink blends quickly in a blender and delivers a balanced flavor of banana and coffee. It’s an easy at-home treat when you want something richer than a plain iced coffee but still light and refreshing.

Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness and a smoother texture. If you prefer a thicker, dessert-like beverage, freeze the banana before blending. This latte adapts well to different coffee strengths and milks, so it’s easy to customize.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Espresso machine or coffee maker for strong cold brew
  • Tall glasses
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana — very ripe (brown-spotted) is best for sweetness and smooth blending
  • 1 cup vanilla creamer (or plain creamer or milk of choice)
  • 2–4 shots espresso, or 1/2 cup strong cold brew depending on how coffee-forward you like it
  • Ice, as needed to fill glasses
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Tiny pinch of salt
  • Agave syrup or simple syrup, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel the banana and place it in the blender with the creamer, vanilla extract, and a tiny pinch of salt. If using frozen banana for a thicker texture, add it directly from the freezer.
  2. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, with no visible banana pieces. Pause and scrape the sides if necessary to ensure an even texture.
  3. Fill two tall glasses with ice. Pour the banana cream mixture over the ice, dividing it evenly between the glasses.
  4. Prepare your espresso or cold brew. Slowly pour 2–4 espresso shots (or about 1/4 cup per glass) over the banana cream in each glass so the coffee lightly mixes and creates a marbled effect.
  5. Taste and add agave or simple syrup if you prefer additional sweetness. Stir gently if you want a uniform color and flavor, or leave it slightly layered for presentation.
  6. Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy while cold.

Notes & Tips

  • The riper the banana, the better the flavor and natural sweetness. Brown-spotted bananas blend into a creamier texture and usually require little or no extra sweetener.
  • Chill your espresso or cold brew before adding it to the glass to keep the drink cold and prevent the ice from melting too quickly.
  • For a milkshake-like consistency, freeze the banana in slices and blend it frozen with the creamer. This yields a thicker, more indulgent texture.
  • If you swap vanilla creamer for plain milk, increase the vanilla extract by a small amount (for example, another 1/4 teaspoon) to preserve the vanilla flavor.
  • Adjust coffee strength to taste: use fewer shots for a milder latte or more shots for a bolder coffee flavor. Cold brew works well if you don’t have an espresso machine.
  • To make this dairy-free, choose a plant-based creamer such as oat or almond and ensure any added sweetener is suitable for your preference.
  • Presentation tip: pour the espresso slowly over the back of a spoon held just above the surface of the banana cream to create a layered, marbled look.

Variations

Try adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm spice note, or blend in a tablespoon of peanut butter for a richer, nutty version. For a chocolate twist, add a teaspoon of cocoa powder or a drizzle of chocolate syrup to the blender before processing.

Serving and Storage

Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor. If you have leftover banana cream mixture, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours and stir well before using. The mixture may thicken in the fridge; thin it with a splash of milk or water if needed. Prepared assembled drinks are best consumed right away because the ice will dilute the drink over time.
